insperatafloruit asked: 4, 11, 21 and ... 7.

4. Top 4 Directors.

  1. Wes Anderson
  2. Quentin Tarantino
  3. Edgar Wright
  4. Nora Ephron
  5. Christopher Nolan
11. The main reason I went to see Get Low was because Bill Murray was in it. I had no idea what it was about and I didn’t have a clue who else was in it. All I knew was I saw Bill Murray’s face on the poster in my local cinema and after that I was sold on whatever the movie would have ended up being. It actually ended up being an amazing film too. Beautiful and funny.
21. The first really grown up movie I watched was probably Cliffhanger. Dad would have hired it on VHS (the 90s amirite?!) and not payed attention to whether any children had remained in the room. I was terrified. People being shot and falling from great heights! I was not ready for that shit.
7. I answered this just before, it’s clearly an excellent question.

7. My guilty pleasure movies are the tear jerking type centring around strong female characters, which usually have one character die in a scene designed to slay you emotionally. These movies were huge in the late 80s and early 90s. They aren’t bad movies (in my opinion), but are abhorred by many people. My favourites include Steel Magnolias, Beaches, Fried Green Tomatoes, and The First Wives Club. They always have brilliant casts, yet aren’t taken seriously probably because patriarchy. I don’t know if it really counts as a guilty pleasure when I literally feel no shame in my love.

18. It’s a tie between The Royal Tenenbaums and The Boat That Rocked soundtracks. After I saw The Royal Tenenbaums I got my hands on every bit of Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and Nico I could and would listen to them whenever I felt sad. Also Mark Motherbaugh always kills it with his scoring for Wes Anderson. The Boat That Rocked has one of the best soundtracks ever, which makes sense considering the music is basically one of the characters of the film.

23. The Back to the Future trilogy is super awesome. They’re probably my favourite sci-fi movies mostly because Michael J. Fox.

She’s up all night for good fun.
I HIGHLY recommend playing ‘Get Lucky’ and staring at this gif for the whole song.

“his voice sank pressed up against the wall, ‘We have lived for too long. We wish. We wish; we want we want -’ ‘We are not,’ he said, ‘long-term beings. not heroes of romances in many volumes. for one gesture, for one word alone, we shall make the effort. We openly admit: our creations will be temporary.’” This book is stunning as an object, as a series of words, and as art.

This is my other Star Trek Into Darkness review. Slightly more succinct.

Jessica posted this about half an hour ago and it’s already approaching 100 notes. It’s funny because duh! Jess is funny, but it also proves tumblr is kinda lame.

Writing a poem is like having an affair, a one-night stand; a short story is a romance, a relationship; a novel is a marriage—one has to be cunning, devise compromises, and make sacrifices.

First game of scrabble in ages today. It was tense. It was nail biting. It should have been televised.

This .GIF set makes me so happy.

I don’t have words for how excited I am for The World’s End. It’s that thing where you get ridiculously emotional about something that’s actually incredibly funny.
